Anybus-S - Drive Profiles

The drive application uses the same standard Anybus interface for all fieldbus systems

The profile server translates data and commands to the drive application

The profile specifies the data content and meaning

The fieldbus protocol cover OSI Layer 1-7

For example, the state machine that controls the different states of a drive is unique and the way parameters are represented differ by data type, resolution and unit. One drive profile might specify the control value in % of the maximum frequency and another in RPM (Revolutions Per Minute). The Anybus-S with Drive Profile handles this problem in a very efficient way. The calculation and conversion that is needed is done fully by the Anybus module itself.

Since the Anybus-S with Drive Profiles is especially made for drive applications, the interface host to Anybus is optimised for drive communications. The application interface is available with DPRAM or serial communication, whereas the parallel is the fastest access method. The command set between the drive and the Anybus module enables important drive functionality such as acyclic parameter transfer, fast I/O transfer, text block transfer, “change of state” supervision and configuration download.
