The Anybus CompactCom 2-port EtherNet/IP module allows EtherNet/IP real-time communication with bus or ring topologies and eliminates the need for expensive external switches. The module provides an easy way for any kind of automation device to connect to any PLC with EtherNet/IP support. In addition to the EtherNet/IP protocol, the module provides a full featured TCP/UDP-IP socket interface which can be used to implement specific application protocols.
The module also supports the DLR (Device Level Ring) network protocol. DLR technology adds device-level network resilience to optimize machine operation. When a DLR detects a break in the ring, it provides alternate routing of the data to help recover the network. The CIP Parameter Object is supported, thus enabling higher level devices and configuration tools to access the actual name, type, and range of an ADI. The modular approach of the Anybus-CC platform allows the EtherNet/IP implementation to be customized and expanded to fit specific application requirements; unimplemented CIP messages can be routed to the host application, thus enabling profile support etc, and the contents of the Identity object can be customized to enable the product to appear as a vendor specific implementation.
In addition, the module supports web functions such as a WebServer for creating Dynamic Webpages which include reading & writing of ADIs and process data, Email sending and FTP for downloading of user webpages. Through the socket interface the module provides the possibility to implement other TCP/UDP protocols using the modules TCP/IP stack.
The 2-port module is backwards compatible (standard implementation) with the single port Anybus-CC EtherNet/IP module (AB6214) concerning the Anybus interface, though it has a little higher current consumption and a different fieldbus ID. This module also has a separate EDS file for the EtherNet/IP configuration. It can be plugged into any automation device with integrated Anybus-CC communication slot.
M12 connectors
The M12 version is available with and without housing. The version with housing will have an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 20, just as the standard CompactCom modules with the default fieldbus connector. The version without housing will make it possible for the end user to design a product with protection rating up to IP67. This means that it is completely sealed from dust and can operate under water.
