In the AIDA (Automation Initiative of German Automobile Manufacturers) combined German car manufacturers, Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and VW, share on Profinet as the emerging network standard for the automation of manufacturing plants. AIDA are asking all suppliers to provide their automation equipment with a Profinet interface that meets the requirements of the AIDA companies.
Main requirements are:
Compliance Class B or C
Integrated Switch
Fast Start-up (FSU)
Network management (SNMP) and media redundancy
Copper or fiber optic connection
Profinet Certificate
TCP / IP and Profinet communication on a common port
